John Trasviña — Keynote speaker John Trasviña is the Assistant Secretary for Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity,  John Trasviña U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity administers and enforces federal laws and establishes policies that make sure all Amerians have equal access to the housing of their choice. Before joining the Obama Administration, Assistant Secretary Trasviña served as President and General Counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, where he led the “law firm for the Latino community” by advancing litigation and public policy in the areas of civil rights, immigration, education and related issues. Previously Assistant Secretary Trasviña was a member of the San Francisco Elections Commission, president of the Harvard Club of San Francisco, and a board member of the La Raza Lawyers Association. Assistant Secretary Trasviña, a native of San Francisco, is a graduate of Harvard University and Stanford Law School. Vicki Schultz — Keynote speaker Vicki Schultz is the Senior Fair Lending Counsel,  Vicki Schultz U.S. Department of Justice. The Fair Lending Enforcement Program works to eliminate discriminatory lending practices by bringing enforcement actions under the Fair Housing Act and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Before joining the Obama Administration, Ms. Schultz served as the Ford Foundation Professor of Law and the Social Sciences at Yale Law School, where she taught courses on emploment discrimination law, workplace theory and policy, and related subjects. Previously Ms. Schultz served as president of the Labor and Employment Section of the Association for American Law Schools and as a trustee of the Law and Society of Association. She has been the recipient of several fellowships, including the Evelyn Green Davis fellowship at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University and fellowships at the Center for the Advanced Study of the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University and the Whitney Humanities Center at Yale University. She also has worked as a former trial attorney for the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division and as a professor at the University of Wisconsin Law School. Ms. Schultz began her academic career at the University of Wisconsin Law School and received her J.D. from Harvard Law School. |
