Understanding Mortgage Foreclosure Resources
to Ensure the Best Outcome for Homeowners
Registration for this event is now closed.
This course has been specifically designed for attorneys and legal staff who want to be better equipped and knowledgeable about the mortgage foreclosure crisis, what can be done to assist Ohio homeowners facing foreclosure on their primary residence, and what resources are available to assist the attorneys in private practice and their staffs
The course was offered on three separate dates, free of charge, to attorneys or legal staff from the Dayton and Miami Valley area. This course has been approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio Commission on Continuing Legal Education for 3.00 total CLE hours instruction.

Charles J. Roedersheimer
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Mr. Roedersheimer specializes in the following areas of law: Bankruptcy, Mortgage Finance, Predatory Lending, Consumer Law (emphasis on credit and debt collection claims and disputes), Government and Business Contracts and Military Law. He has been with the law firm of Thompson and DeVeny for 6 years. He previously held the positions of General Counsel and Associate Regional Counsel for the U.S. Government’s Defense Logistics Agency in Dayton and Columbus; was a reserve Captain in the Navy Judge Advocate General Corp (now retired); and served as a staff attorney for Dayton Legal Aid Society prior to associating with Thompson & DeVeny. He has served as a lecturer/presenter at local and state bar associations on predatory lending since 2001 and on bankruptcy law since 2005.

Special Guest Faculty
Each special guest faculty will make a 20 minute presentation on the resources that each of their offices offer to homeowners and, their perspective on what private attorneys can best do to assist homeowners who are facing foreclosure.
Susan Choe is the Chief of the Consumer Protection Section of the in the Office of Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray. The Consumer Protection Section aggressively protects Ohioans’ rights as consumers through civil and criminal legal proceedings, public education and outreach. Ms. Choe joined the Office in August 2007, as Chief of the Civil Rights Section. She also coordinates the office’s efforts for Ohio’s Save the Dream program, the state’s multi-agency foreclosure prevention effort.
Prior to joining the Attorney General’s Office, Ms. Choe was Director and Supervising Attorney of the Student Housing Legal Clinic, a joint program of the Ohio State University Office of Student Life and the Moritz College of Law Clinical Programs. Previous to that Ms. Choe worked for Legal Aid of Western Ohio (LAWO) where she supervised the Consumer and Housing units, and Advocates for Basic Legal equality (ABLE) in Toledo. She has over 12 years of experience in fair housing and state and federal housing law with additional experience in foreclosure defense and predatory lending litigation. Ms. Choe received her J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law and undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Economics from The Ohio State University.
Ms. Choe also currently serves on the OSBA Special Committee to Review Gender Fairness Report and on the Advisory Board for the Columbus Chapter of the American Constitution Society. In addition, Ms. Choe is the 2009 recipient of the John C. and Ginny Elam Pro Bono Award for her work on Save the Dream. The award recognizes and encourages exceptional pro bono legal work in the state of Ohio.
Lori DeWine is the Program Coordinator for the HomeOwnership Center of Greater Dayton. She administers the rescue loan and grant programs and supervises the homeownership specialist staff. The HomeOwnership Center of Greater Dayton has successfully assisted hundreds of homeowners in saving their homes from foreclosure through loan modification, forbearance plans and rescue funds.
Ms. DeWine has over 20 years experience in finance and education. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education in adult learning and distance education. In addition to her responsibilities at the HomeOwnership Center, she coordinates the real estate program at Sinclair Community College where she uses innovative approaches to teach real estate concepts and financial literacy to both students and teaching staff.
Jacqueline C. Hagerott is the Mediation Counsel for the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Case Mediation Section. In addition to being Mediation Counsel for the Case Mediation Section Jacqueline Hagerott is also the Manager of the Dispute Resolution Section for the Supreme Court of Ohio. In this role she consults with and advises local court staff regarding dispute resolution program planning, implementation and evaluation. She also analyzes problems and trends among court dispute resolution programs; advises mediation coordinators, judges and other court staff regarding dispute resolution policies and procedures; and provides resources to promote efficient and effective program operations. Her experience includes the practice of law, an associate deanship, course design and development and dispute resolution. She began mediating cases for Ohio courts in 1997. She has an A.A.S. degree in business management, a B.S. degree in accounting and a J.D. and an LL.M. degree in business with a concentration in dispute resolution. She is licensed in the State of Ohio, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the Supreme Court of the U.S. She is a national speaker and trainer on the topics of foreclosure mediation and preparing clients for mediation and served as the Chair of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Committee from 2007-2009.
